The spaces Between Us

Completed in 2015 as part of a study abroad program in Italy. This is a map of the stories we tell each other in order to reveal a part of ourselves; a series of words, memories and moments that link us together. The spaces between us. It includes a portrait of every member of the study group. I sat down with each of my classmates for about half an hour for a heart-to-heart conversation, while sketching their portrait. These sessions were intimate, revealing and humbling, and I learnt so much about my peers through this exercise. I used coloured pencils inside my Moleskine sketchbook.
